you talking about what I said to ladygish? what's wrong with what I said to ladygish? I'm totally interested in what she believes. I'm asking her to help me understand it. I'm saying that I'm curious and want to know about existiantanialism. am I not alowed to do that? am I not allowed to ask anything about anyone elses views?? this is ludicrous! what am I supposed to do? just sit here and take your critisizms.? HAH! theres something seriously wrong here. well what i read said, you couldn't understand why someone would believe something like this

I don't understand anything about it. This kind of thing confuses me beyond belief. I thought I had absolute truth figured out, but apparently I don't. does 2+2=4? how can you know it does? what makes you so sure that it does? what is 2? all your life you've been taught that 2+2=4, but what if it doesn't? I know this sounds absurd, but I haven't been able to figure it out at all.

You see though, you're acting like reality depends on what you want it to. It doesnt. Reality is seperate of any individuals whims or wishes. 2+2 will always equal 4, no matter how much you want it to otherwise. You cant just bend reality to suit your mood. Otherwise there wouldnt really be any reality, since it would just be the product of everyones whims.

I'm not saying we can bend reality, I'm just saying perhaps, theres not clear definition of reality or the rules that govern it. how do we know that 2+2=4 and are there limits to how much we can put into question about it?

I'm gonna pretend that you didnt just say there arent clearly governed rules. Its apparent that you havent studied physics.
There are such things as constants. You know, things that are always going to be the way they are. To say that there isnt is a constant itself, and a contradiction. Well, 2+2 always adding up to four is one such constant. You could call the numbers anything else, but the idea behind it would still be the same. No matter how many times you try to add 2 and 2 together to make something else, it will always be four.

Yeah, I know, right?! What kinda crack head would I have to be. Then again, I can understand why friend might be having trouble grasping such things, since she believes in things like a man parting water and such.
